Hedging account vs netting account

Hedging and netting are systems that platforms use to manage multiple trades on the same instrument. Right now, all Forex and Crypto Challenges and Performance accounts are using a hedging system, while Futures products are using a netting system.

With the Netting system, if you hold a position and open a new position in the opposite direction with the same volume, the new position will effectively cancel out the original position.

With the hedging system, if you open a buy position for EUR/USD with a volume of 1 and later on you open a sell position for the same instrument, same size, both positions are active, resulting in 1 lot of EUR/USD bought and 1 lot sold, effectively locking the trader's positions. If you later open another position in the same direction as the initial buy, a new order will appear in the Trade section, reflecting the new price and volume.

Note: Apart from the Hedging system, there is also a Hedging strategy with the same logic. While the platform allows multiple positions, opening equal Long and Short trades on the same instrument across multiple accounts is strictly prohibited. You are only permitted to hedge positions within the same single Challenge or Performance account.
